alrite. for term 4. we continued with the shophouse.
we ll be creating an artist village where all our clients would
be leaving side by side, something like that.
so we had to design the shophouse for our client,
putting into consideration his/her design concept.
Mine was Issey Miyake, a Japanese fashion designer.
whose design concept is Flexibility and Strechability.
the process was quite a tedious one for the whole term.
consultations consultations consultations.
started with the moodbox.
which we are supposed to put in our ideas in there.
i did folding architecture as folding resembles the
pleats used by miyake.
cant upload the pictures as my harddrive crashed. =
after the submissions for moodbox, we went on
for the mock up model. and followed by the final model.
we had to also design the storyboard for the whole project.
and we had to do the CADP. haaa.
there were some hiccups here and there..
but then..we all did quite fine i tink.
well i think thats all for the whole project.

19.11.08consultations consultations consultations...
24.11.08final submissions for the machine and the A1 boards.
that was a heavy load off our shoulders.
BUT. we were given another piece
of shocking news..
the whole project would be interconnected with
term 4's project. meaning to say its
a Mega-Giga-Big project!
25.11.08and now, its the last day of schooooool!
plus submissions for the TOD and drawings.
but to think about it, the break wouldnt be that
long either.
and obviously, many were already dozing off
as soon as they submit their works.
10.11.08we had to create a machine that
is functional for the body
and were given a new project!
it was group work.
so our group decided to do a headgear
which is to be used in the toilet.
our project uses the concept of masking.
we mask off the sense of touch by using
metal wires to create a layer above our skin.
the whole week was hectic with so many
things to be done and shortage of time.
many of us had to stay beyond lesson time
to complete the projects in studio.

1.11.08 - 5.11.08another heavy assignment was given.
we were told that they would be combining
the CADP alongside with DS.
and we had to measure a shophouse with
the criteria given to us, that we can find in singapore.
it was hard, trying to find ours.
we spent a whole day trying to locate one.
its either we found the right one but with no
occupant or the occupant wouldnt let us in to
measure.
after a long search we finally found one
which is the Singapore Institute of Architects.
we measure certain parts of the building and was
given the floorplans of the shophouse.
and we had to transfer the measurements
into Autocad drawings.
had some difficulties here and there
but we managed to pull through as a group.
20.10.08 - 25.10.08Lets do a week to week updates on what
happened in school during Design Studio
and also TOD plus InTech.
Well for this whole week,
we focused more on Intech which is on
Ergonomics & Anthropometrics.
Ergonomics is the Study of human comfort and reaction
while on the other hand,
Anthropometrics is the Study of human dynamics and proportions.
it was rather confusing at first but after few clarifications
and lectures, everyone began to get the hang of it.
Ergonomics focuses more on human comforts and
anthropometrics focuses on the measurements of the
human body for a specific space or design.
we had some exercises to be done, one of which,
sketches of human figures at various
positions be it stationary or moving.
& we had to do 32 of that humans. -__-
Excercise 3 & 4 :
introduction to the different types
of stairs and its measurements.
then we had to draw them out in different views.
the different types of stairs are
Dog-leg stairs
straight stairs
spiral
quite tedious to draw though.
well that marks the end of a whole
week of drawing drawing drawing and InTech.
Wednesday, October 15, 2008
term has finally started.
but lessons has not.
we're going through a Photography Workshop
which will last until this Friday.
our intructors, Jerome and Eric who
both have backgrounds as Professional Photographers
taught the class the basic tecniques of capturing
a not only nice but beautiful and breath-taking pictures.
the first lecture which was on Monday was rather dry.
we were told of the different types of lenses, its uses,
different type of camera functions, introduced to
SLR & DSLR. (:
we had an assignment to do which is to take pictures
with the colour of our respective groups.
mine is green. went around the campus and
started to shoot some photos.
Tuesday lecture was quite a breeze.
had a group-work. we set up our mini studio
using black cloth, styrofoam boards and table lamps.
and our job is to explore and play around with the
lightings and settings. fun indeed!
as for today, we had a field trip to Little India.
shall update about the trip with more of the pictures 2mrw.
stay tuned!
