drawing permutations was interesting.
but making them by using metal wires,
was a little bit hard.
but i did just fine.
for the sphere, most of us coiled the
wire into a ball. took a lot of strength and creativity though.

bringing an A3 acrylic to school seems weird.
lol. and had such a hard time trying to buy one.
everywhere was out of stock.
due to the whole cohort have to purchase 2 pieces.
anyway, what we had to do with the acrylic piece?
trace our friend's face.
yeap!
i did Ama. (:
but it turns out to look weird.
but Zu's one is nice.
she did something like a collage on 1 piece.
tracing is, no doubt, easier than drawing by looking at
the obejct. heh.

next BIG project.
well at least, it was a big one for me. tsk.
we had to transfer what we drew about our
emotions onto 20 pingpong balls.
most of us was like "errr? 20?"
that's quite alot.
objective of this project is to enable us to be creative
and allow us to start drawing in 3D form. sharks!
it took me some time to complete 10. haha.
well i guess this project somehow is going to lead us
to the next project.

we learnt shadings today.
different types of shadings plus hatching
and drawing with the help of grid lines.
we were told to bring any fruits/vegetables.
was wondering what we are going to do with it.
and the 'surprise' came.
we have to draw the item we brought.
so i started drawing my green chilli.
tsk. it sucks at first. had to shade to show the contour and stuffs.
and what made it worse is that, we have to
draw 9 different views of the item.
different perspective again!
after lunch, we had a show an tell session.
i brought my "etch-a-sketch" toy.
but due to time constraint, didnt get to
present and talk about my toy. (:
the class then had to complete this worksheet
about ourselves. more about our emotions.
wondered what that has got to do with DS.
little that i know, we have to draw what we wrote on the
worksheet. like happy, draw a happy expression etc.
tsk. that was a long day.

this are the Brickboys i was talking about. (:
took quite some time to put the boxes together.
the tough part was to glue the cloth neatly onto the paper.
the only thing i regretted doing was the hat.
it looked out of place. nevertheless, everyone did a great job. (:

mini critique session. everyone brought our Brickboys.
the new version i mean. nothing heavy for today.
we just looked at one another's work and gave comments.
some look very nice with a lot of effort put in.
some are even funny looking.
it's interesting to see how the students changed the original identity
of their character into a 'square' figured brickboy.
we presented our Brickboys to the class one after another.
i felt the shivers as i was nervous.
haha. but i think it was a good start.

today, we brought the Brickboy to a step further.
we were told to enlarge the figure to two times its original one.
and they told us to bring the Brickboy to live by
making it into a character.
interesting!
there were alot of characters made by my classmates.
eg: PCK, Doraemon, Simpsons, PowerPuffGirls.
mine was Charlie Brown.
it looked rather distorted to have a square face.
but well, its an assignment.
something new learnt. (:

new blog for the Design Studio module.
new life in SP DID.
well today we did some sketchings and shadings of
objects we see in the studio.
the objective of the sketching/drawing lesson is for us
to look at objects from different perspective. (:
it's been long since i last drew.
so at first it was quite a tedious thing to do
but soon after, things get better and i do enjoy the session.
i drew the OHP from the bottom view and also a half-open
laptop which, doesnt look nice. well its okay coz im sure it'll get
better as time goes by and as i do more drawings.
after lunch, we did something more interesting!
which is the Brickboy. ever heard of that?
we were supposed to enlarge the templates which has the different
body parts of the brick boy and then fold them to
form the shapes.
that took the whole afternoon.
basically, i think this exercise needed us to be precise
and to focus alot on the enlarging and cutting.
well that's all for day 1.
was not a bad day after all.
till the next entry. (:
